Responsibilities

Position Summary:

St. Joseph’s Medical Center is seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Tele/ICU Educator to join our team. The Educator is accountable for providing educational expertise in medical-surgical/telemetry and intensive care nursing as well as assisting with education throughout the organization. As a recognized expert the Med-Surg/Tele/ICU Educator acts as a mentor to the nursing staff providing consultation and education. This person is responsible for the ongoing review revision and management of staff clinical competencies and conducting competency evaluations and for coordinating opportunities to match staff learning needs with patient care needs. The Educator does not assume responsibility for an assigned case load of patients but is required to maintain clinical competence by working directly with nursing staff in the assigned patient care areas on a routine basis. The educator is responsible for the coordination of quality improvement activities and/or research studies surrounding the hospital STEMI Receiving Center program ABCDE Bundle compliance Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Certification Sepsis care and other key quality of care initiatives. Due to the nature of assigned departments being operational 24/7 the schedule will vary so all staff have access to the Med-Surg/Tele/ICU Educator.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years acute care experience in a combination of intensive care, medical/surgical and telemetry.

  • Bachelors degree in nursing.

  • Current CA RN licensure.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching skills.

  • Ability to articulate and apply quality improvement and nursing research principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current CCRN is preferred.

  • Current ACLS and PALS certifications.

Pay Range

$55.79 - $80.82 /hour
