Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, performs a variety of duties relating to the security of the Medical Center building and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and to assure the personal safety of employees, patients and visitors.

This position is represented by S.P.F.P.A. and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent

  • California state issued guard card (CT GA)

  • CA driver’s license (CA DL)

  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire (CTCPRBLS)

Preferred Requirements:

  • At least 6 months experience as police or security officer

Special Skills:

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing

  • Ability to follow through with appropriate actions as situations warrant

  • Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations and respond appropriately and rapidly

  • Ability to work with other departments and visitors in a friendly and effective manner

  • Upon completion of basic PBX training, will be required to relieve hospital operators for breaks/lunches barring code situations

  • Required to drive Security vehicle on campus and off

  • Frequent VCR/computer activity

  • Frequent use of communication radios

  • Infrequent use of copy machine

  • Basic computer skills in the monitoring of the Security access system
