Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health core values the Respiratory Therapist IV actively participates in the delivery of Pulmonary Medicine and Neonatal Intensive Care Services.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current California licensed RRT

  • Minimum of five (5) years Critical care experience in respiratory therapy or three (3) years experience in a level 2 or greater NICU competency in Neonatal and Newborn delivery Intubation and three (3) years experience in critical care and ventilator management

  • Current California RCP licensure

  • CPR certification

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification

  • ACLS required; PALS certification required within three (3) months of employment

Preferred/Desired

  • CPR Instructor or Neonatal Resuscitation instructor

  • CPFT RPFT or NBRC perinatal/pediatric certification

This position is represented by SEIU Local UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Current California licensed RRT with a minimum of 5 years Critical care experience in respiratory therapy

and 3 years experience in critical care and ventilator management CPR Instructor or Neonatal Resuscitation instructor CPFT RPFT or NBRC perinatal / pediatric certification

Demonstrates a working knowledge of current trends in performance of respiratory therapies.

Demonstrates advanced and proficient technical skills in performance of respiratory therapies utilized in all patient care areas including critical care and NICU. Demonstrates ability to take on charge therapist responsibilities as required without direct supervision.

Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Establishes effective working relationships with other departments medical staff and co-workers; treats public courteously tactfully and professionally.

Demonstrates competency in advance modes of Ventilation.

Demonstrates competency in all Technical Functions required of a RT I RT II and RT III.

Demonstrates ability to work as part of a clinical team in dynamic or critical situations.

Demonstrates ability to participate in the patient?s interdisciplinary plan of care & education.

Ability to function as Chair person or Team leader in department Teams Coordinates department or interdisciplinary process Improvement (P.I.T) projects.

Able to assist Dept Supervisor or Director in peer review of employee performance evaluations and personnel issues.

Able to function as preceptor for other staff able to work independently to develop and coordinate dept education and in-services programs.

Demonstrates critical thinking skills and acts as a clinical resource for other ancillary or medical staff.

Demonstrates appropriate leadership qualities and acts as a professional role model for other staff.

Current California RCP licensure CPR certification Neonatal Resuscitation Certification & ACLS required.

Also PALS certification within 3 months of employment.

Pay Range

$50.15 - $61.74 /hour
