Catholic Health Initiatives Lab Tech in Oakes, North Dakota

Overview

Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI Oakes Hospital.

Working as a Lab Tech at our Critical Access Hospital, you'll perform a wide range of technical procedures analyzing blood and various body fluids in order to expedite the physician’s diagnosis and treatment of patients.

You'll perform routine phlebotomy and prepare and analyze patient specimens for testing or culture. Your knowledge of theory in areas of Transfusion Service, Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Coagulation and Microbiology will be integral in this position.

Additionally, you'll perform quality control; interpret quality of patient results as they correlate to instrument operation; perform routine instrument maintenance; relay results to the nursing floor or physician; perform miscellaneous related duties and performs other duties as assigned, also in the capacity of the general supervisor when the general supervisor is off duty.

This is a PRN casual as needed position. Accepting Med Tech or MLT applicants!

About Us:

CHI Oakes Hospital is a 20-bed critical access hospital that provides various inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 14000 people in southeastern North Dakota. It is also a 24-Hour Emergency Level V Trauma Center. The hospital building was newly-constructed in 2007 replacing a 50-year old building and in 2010 Oakes Community Clinic was opened within the hospital building. The hospital is part of a larger values-based organization CommonSpirit Health.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing and establishing procedures for collecting, processing, and analyzing biological specimens and other substances.

  • Develops and executes solutions to solve quality control, quality assurance, and patient data discrepancies to maintain accuracy and precision.

  • Assists in developing, evaluating, and selecting new techniques, instruments, and methods in terms of their usefulness and practicality within the context of the laboratory’s personnel, equipment, space, and budgetary resources.

  • Receives and/or obtains specimens using appropriate technique and maintains integrity of specimen in relationship to the test to be performed.

  • Processes specimens for analysis according to specifications related to the type of specimen or analysis to be performed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of program for Clinical Laboratory Technician from an approved facility OR Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent.

  • Medical Technologist (MT) License or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for the State of North Dakota.

  • Current valid certificate by American Society for Clinical Pathologists: CLT-NCA, MLS, MT-AAB, MT-AMT, ASCP-IMLS, or MT-ASCP.

Pay Range

$17.93 - $24.66 /hour
