Stationary Engineer Licensed

Northridge Hospital Medical Center

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a skilled and experienced Stationary Engineer Licensed to join our Plant Operations team. The Stationary Engineer Licensed performs diverse duties to operate boilers and auxiliary equipment in order to maintain and control the steam supply and all other critical utilities at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and outlying buildings as well as fulfill the requirements of various departments. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The Licensed Stationary Engineer is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner with respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other trades assigned to perform work in the boiler room, mechanical rooms and all other areas assigned.

  • Work from written requisitions or verbal instructions.

  • Perform pressure vessel firing operation and other incidental duties. Have constant surveillance of all pressure vessel operations, gauges, valves, and visible audible controls.

  • Ensure that all boiler components are cleaned and lubricated as scheduled.

  • Maintain the engineer's log sheet, and record hourly conditions.

  • Perform or assist with boiler and component repairs.

  • Assist with preparing the boilers for annual inspection.

  • Determines whether repair or replacement is necessary and prioritizes.

  • Notify Manager of any problems or delays in projects.

  • Report defective materials, faulty operation of equipment, and unusual matters to supervisor and appropriate personnel.

  • Report any violation of OSHA regulations to supervisor.

  • Audits preventive maintenance schedule and makes sure PM's are performed on a regular basis, per the calendar.

  • Operate a variety of power and hand tools.

  • Assist Facilities Management Department personnel as assigned by supervisor.

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.

  • Follow standard and prescribed safety regulations.

  • Respond to all facility emergency codes.

  • Maintain all training and permits as required by NHMC.

  • Maintain professional behavior at all times.

  • Participate in all scheduled department meetings.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Must have L.A. City Steam Engineer license of 500 H.P. or greater.

  • Minimum of two (2) years plant operations experience and ne (1) year in a healthcare setting.

  • Operate steam boilers chillers and auxiliary plant equipment.

  • Fire Safety card required within 90 days of employment.

This position is covered by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$41.12 - $51.69 /hour
