RESPIRATORY THERAPIST (RCP) – RESPIRATORY THERAPY

The RCP is responsible to perform all therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care procedures ordered by the responsible physician; evaluates patients; maintains all required patient and department records; maintains and evaluates proper functioning of equipment when required; responsible for obtaining written physician orders pertaining to respiratory care; responsible for organizing and planning daily work assignments and notifying shift charge therapist of problems and missed procedures; maintains professional knowledge of current respiratory care practice and department policy and procedures; responsible to practice job duties in accordance with department /Medical Center policy and procedure and the Respiratory Care Standards of Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patients with respiratory conditions

  • Develop and implement respiratory care plans

  • Administer oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and other respiratory medications

  • Perform chest physiotherapy and other airway clearance techniques

  • Monitor and interpret respiratory function tests

  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care management

  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest respiratory care practices and technologies

Qualifications

  • A minimum 1 year primary work experience as a Respiratory Therapist or have successfully completed a student rotation at NHMC.

  • Current State of California Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.

  • Current Basic Life Support certification

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required.

  • Must maintain current Fire Safety card.

This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$44.63 - $54.97 /hour
