Dignity Health @ Mercy Hospital of Folsom is the community hospital serving the Sierra foothills communities of Folsom El Dorado Hills Granite Bay Cameron Park Shingle Springs and Rescue. With 106 licensed acute-care beds our accredited non-profit hospital has been providing exceptional care for more than 35 years. Mercy Hospital of Folsom provides surgical services including minimally-invasive general urological and gynecological surgeries. We also provide comprehensive and award-winning orthopedic services which include surgery inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and specialty orthopedic care. As a certified Joint Commission Stroke Center Mercy Folsom provides exceptional care to our patients in our Medical Surgical and Intensive Care units as well as our 25-bed Emergency Department. Our Family Birth Center features private and contemporary birthing suites where labor delivery and recovery occur in one room as well as award-winning lactation training and support. Responsibilities

As our Surgical Acute Manager at Mercy Hospital of Folsom, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, you’ll oversee a department of frontline nurses and act as the conduit between these caregivers and leadership teams. You will communicate the organization’s goals to the nursing staff as we constantly seek to improve patient experiences reach out to our community and deliver quality care. At the same time you will advocate for your team by bringing any issues requests or new ideas from them to leadership.

Utilizing your excellent communication skills one-on-one and in front of groups you will tackle tough conversations and above all be an educator at heart. The Surgical Acute Unit at Mercy Hospital of Folsom serves a variety of patients. A majority of the admissions to this department are from our PACU via Surgical Operations and Procedures. As well as some that come through the Emergency Department are sent to our 21 BED unit . We have a mixture of Post Surgical Med-Surg and Telemetry patients. We highly value approaching patient care with strong teamwork within our unit and within our hospital. Additionally we pride ourselves on our continual efforts to make improvements to our work in order to produce the best patient outcomes. We are always looking for ways to keep our patients safe and free of hospital acquired conditions. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals and we are looking for individuals that share a passion for patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a department of nurses ensuring everyone has what they need to deliver the best care possible to our patients.

  • Engage with the floor. Talk to the nurses the patients and families. Keep your finger on the pulse of your department so you can keep things running smoothly.

  • Attend meetings with leadership to learn about new initiatives budgetary status areas for improvement etc. and bring this information back to your team of nurses.

  • Monitor attendance among nursing staff watching for any patterns of missed shifts which may need addressing.

  • Monitor productivity and efficiency of your department including budgets. We want to achieve the best throughput while never compromising on care.

  • Mentor people on your team. Share your knowledge and confidence with assistant nurse managers charge nurses and others. Build them into potential nurse managers like yourself.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience and one (1) year of leadership experience.

Licensure:

  • Registered Nursing License (RN) in state of CA

  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association

  • Current ACLS from the American Heart Association

Pay Range

$69.04 - $89.19 /hour
