Responsibilities

VMFH is seeking a dedicated Bariatric Psychologist to join the bariatric surgery team based in Federal Way that will work collaboratively with team members across all three bariatric surgery locations and to evaluate patients. This position will have a dotted line reporting to the Behavioral Health service line. Performs patient care and team meetings 100% virtually. Ability to have occasional in person office presence is recommended but not required.

The Center for Digestive Health (CDH) is a priority service line at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. The goal of CDH is to build a nationally recognized, fully-integrated, destination program for patients with digestive health concerns including bariatric, GI, colorectal, esophageal, liver, and pancreas conditions.

Within CDH, is the Center for Weight Management’s bariatric surgery program. Bariatric surgery is offered at three locations at St. Francis Hospital (SFH) in Federal Way, Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) in Seattle, and St. Michael Medical Center (SMMC) in Silverdale. All three bariatric surgery programs are accredited through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. This designation is awarded to a small percentage of facilities across the nation and acknowledges our commitment to providing safe, quality, and specialized care for our bariatric patients.

The job functions are as follows:

  • Conducts comprehensive bariatric behavioral health evaluations for patients seeking weight loss treatment

  • Provides clinical consultations regarding shared patients with the surgical teams to ensure quality outcomes

  • Works collaboratively with all members of the bariatric surgery team including surgeons, coordinators, and other team members at all three surgery locations.

  • Providers education to patients and families

  • Attends regular team meetings virtually or in person with SFH, VMMC, and SMMC bariatric teams, and the behavioral health service line.

  • 100% remote position

Job Requirements include:

  • Doctorate level psychology degree

  • Board certification

Pay Range

$44.72 - $56.70/hour
